My Aunt Alice

—By Barbara Jimenez

Aunt Alice had cancer when she was around 45 years old. When she first heard the news, she thought it was the end of her world. We had just started having Bible studies and had invited the neighbors and friends to come pray with us. We laid hands on Aunt Alice and prayed for her. One of the ladies gave her a scripture from the Lord.

The scripture was: “I shall live and not die and live to declare the glory of God.”

Well, she took hold of that scripture and held it in her heart. Then wrote it down and posted it on her refrigerator and read it everyday. She kept going to the doctor, and went through chemo three times a week. While going through cancer treatments, she lost all her beautiful red hair. When her hair came back, it was still beautiful but it was all white. She held onto her scriptures and about 30 years later, she was still living praising God.

She had heard about all the tests the doctors were doing on us so she asked her doctor why they didn’t offer that to her, the colonoscopy and different other tests. He said, because we didn’t think she would live this long!

Remember this, the Word of God is QUICK, POWERFUL, and ALIVE. Speak His Word over you for it is a creative Word. Never doubt Him. Keep His Word in your heart and He will take care of you and comfort you.
