All I want for Christmas is...

My Favorite Christmas Gift was…

And…CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY!

Merry Christmas!

I hope y’all are having a fantastic holiday season. I am and so are many of my author friends whom I’ve spoken to. We’ve chatted about the things that seem to come up at this time of year, hot chocolate preferences (with marshmallows or without), cookies (gingerbread or shortbread), and Christmas shopping (or needing to). Our lively conversations inspired me to write this blog. I figured if I enjoyed sharing Holiday stories with them, you would too. So, I asked some of your favorite authors to tell us about two specific things.

What do you want for Christmas? What was your Favorite Christmas Gift?

Cherry AdairViolet HoweTonya KappesJocie McKadeDelilah Marvelle, and Meg Tilly have opened up their hearts to share their fond memories and dreams. Now, I ask you to share what those two things are for you in the comments below.  Isn’t Christmas Season a great time to reflect, remember, hope…and smile (a lot)?

New York Times Best Selling Author, Cherry Adair. Author of Killer Christmas

All I want for Christmas is….

“After World Peace? 0 percent body fat! Actually, I would really like one of the 22 lottery tickets I buy every month to pay off.  I play once a month on behalf of each of my FB groups (yes 22 of them! Lol). If I won, I’d split the $$$ between however many people are in that particular group. I need a BIG win. ”

My favorite Christmas gift was…

“At 13, I saved every penny from my after-school part time job at an “antique” store ( I sanded the elbow indentations into tables where the nonexistent grandpa used to drink his coffee every morning. In other words, they made their own antiques, and I came up with the stories. lolol)  I bought my Mom a gold silk cocktail suit. Her expression when she opened the box and peeled back the tissue paper is one of my favorite memories of Christmas. Ever.”

My favorite Christmas gift was…

“When I was fifteen, three months before my sixteenth birthday, I had gotten a tiny key in my Christmas stocking. I was sure it was a moped because all of my neighborhood friends were driving theirs around. I ran out to the garage to look at my new moped and found a 1968 Ford Mustang! My parents had gotten me my dream car, though I couldn’t drive it for three months. That sure beat a moped  .”

Golden Globe Actress, Meg Tilly. Author of Solace Island

All I want for Christmas is….

“Of course, the first thing that pops to mind is “Peace on Earth,” but I realize that is an impossible request. The next thing I thought of was “good health,” but that, too, is not something that can be ordered up as if one was requesting a new pair of shoes.

When I was young, and money was tight I had a list of wants. In our house the thing that heralded the start of the Christmas season was the arrival of the Sears Christmas Wish Book in the mail. We would thumb through that catalogue until it was dog-eared. Spent hours gazing enraptured at all the fancy toys and candy, and warm winter boots that other people could afford to buy. When I was ten my mother found me in the closet weeping because there were so many beautiful things in that catalogue and I knew none of them would ever belong to me. I felt so ashamed by my longing, by her discovering me before I could hide the catalogue or my face. I think–even to this day–it’s hard for me to allow myself to truly lust after something for Christmas.”

 My favorite Christmas gift was…

“A beautiful doll with silver-blond braids, a red jumper dress, white ankle socks and black shoes, that Santa brought for me. She was brand-new! Mother later confessed that she had gone to an ‘After Christmas sale’ and talked a store into letting her pay for the dolls for me and my sisters by bringing a little money to the store every month. Every month, like clockwork, when she cashed her paycheck she’d bring money to the store right away before all the money was spent. Finally, the last doll was paid for and she was able to bring the dolls home just in time for Christmas.”

Award Winning Author of Cozy Mysteries and Romantic Comedies, Jocie McKade. Author of The Three Baers, a romantic comedy series

All I want for Christmas is….

“I have a long “I want” list! First, I want unlimited camping/RV funds, and sunny weather for every RV trip we take. Second, if Santa could fit a black, 1963 split window Corvette into his sleigh that would be awesome. And a mega best-selling book that Steven Spielberg wants the movie rights to!! LOL. Honestly, my wish is simple – family time. I cherish my family time. My hubby is a cancer survivor and just having him with us is such a miracle that I never take for granted. Our daughters are firefighters, one being a paramedic and RN as well. They both married firefighter/paramedics. Many may not realize they work 12 and 24 hour shifts, and they or one of their co-workers must work for every holiday. Injuries and illness do not stop because Santa comes. So, finding one day where they can all be gathered at the same table can sometimes be very challenging.

All this adds up to me cherishing every minute of family time I am humbly granted. So, all I want for Christmas is my family at home with their feet all under the same table sharing a great meal and my home filled with laughter. Perfect!”

 My favorite Christmas gift was…

“I’ve had so many people in my life from those who cared enough to gift me with beautiful presents that this is hard to answer. From autographed books to a collection of funds from co-workers when my husband was going through chemo and radiation, I have been truly humbled by the generosity and thoughtfulness of others.

But honestly, while all of these gifts were beautiful on so many levels, the one I cherish most is the Christmas when we got the all clear on cancer results. I don’t think I’ve ever cried, cheered, danced, and fell to my knees with such fervor and gratitude in my life. My best gift was knowing I’d have my amazing husband with me, and cancer free.”
